Life and Family:      Professionally, I've spent the last 10 years honing a new skill, personal essay writing.  As a
journalist, I've been writing for many years.  But being a personal essayist requires other talents, like developing a
voice, a transparency and a philosophy that you don't mind sharing with total strangers.  My essays appear as a
column I write for the Folha de São Paulo, the biggest newspaper in Brazil, where I've lived for 25 years. In 2003
my early essays, mostly confessional, were published as a book "Sonhando com sotaque" ("Dreaming with an
Accent").

Next 10 Years:     In the next five years, I plan to publish a second volume of essays, with broader themes than
those in the first book.  Some essays are confessional and some focus on little-discussed aspects of our
behavior. An example: at parties, most couples create unspoken rules about how long each partner can talk to a
stranger of the opposite sex.  Other essays compare my adopted country to my native one. An example: how
people from both cultures listen to torch songs to mend broken hearts.  The reason for such comparisons: we
know ourselves through knowing other peoples.  I also plan to write a monologue, based on my essays, and
perform it here. Whether I can act and even more important, whether people will pay to see me on stage, remains
to be seen.    

Favorite Memories:      My favorite memories of University City are of: Rinaldi's pizza (I still haven't found a
tastier one), the Heman Park fountain (when lit up at night), Dr. Pro's music class.

Life and Family:     I have been married to Alan class of '64 for 38  years. We have two children, one married
and they live in U CITY ! YEAH  They gave us the best gift in life, a darling Grandaughter (Lilly) and we are having
the best time being grandparents. We still have  our business specializing in Retro/Nostalgia Apparel like old
bowling shirts and poodle skirts and now we are selling all over the world online at bowlingshirt.com or
cruisinusa.com. Besides traveling all over the US our business has taken us to China,
Israel,Turkey,Alaska,Honduras,Holland,France,Poland,Belgium and more. I feel lucky and appreciate what I have  
and  Life is good

Next 10 Years:      Stay Healthy, Enjoy my family and friends  and have more grandchildren , work a little less,
garden a little more,travel alot more, volunteer for a good cause, maybe learn to play the guitar but I was told I
can't sing.

have helped to nurture two grown sons who are both true "menches" (good people)

Next 10 Years:      To be healthy and to enjoy life, family and friends  To finally retire from Special Education and
to do something entirely different

Favorite Memories:      Singing in the choir and being in the chorus of the High School Musicals; the great
education I received; the friendships that have lasted all these years

Life and Family:       Our family returned from Africa where we lived for 7 years.  Three kids, out of the nest
(mostly!), oldest now married.  My wife directs a program of peacebuilding affiliated with Eastern Mennonite
University.  After many years as a land use planner I went back to school and now work as a nurse.  I bike to work
and love to take opportunities for skiing, backpacking and other adventures.

Next 10 Years:      Working broadly in the field of community health, enjoying kids, living and relaxing in a
down-sized passive solar home, tending to my meadow & landscaping while actively engaged in progressive
political change, supporting community agriculture initiatives and seeking out life's little adventures!

Present Occupation:   Retired Dentist/Full time volunteer and activist for gay rights
Life and Family:    Thanks to my first profession (Dentistry) I am now able to be a full-time volunteer for the
GLBT (Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgendered)community. For the past 7 years I have been involved with The
Stonewall Library & Archives in Ft. Lauderdale, and as President the past 3 years. We are now the only
independent GLBT library operating in a public space, with the Broward County Library System. Next to raising my
son, Adam, it is my proudest achievement.

I have a wonderful partner, Grover Lawlis who is a psychiatrist.

Next 10 Years:  My son Adam and his wife live close by in South Beach and are expecting their first child.. my
first grandkid. I can't wait to be a Papi

Favorite Memories:      Cruising around in my GTO..God did I really drive that gas guzzler?
