Life and Family: After getting laid off from my P.R. job at Lambert Airport after 9-11 I was fortunate enough to get back into Federal civil service at the local V.A. Medical Center, where I can hopefully retire from in two years and three months, not that I'm counting. I had extensive double tendon reattachment of my left rotator cuff 7-8-08 due to a fall, and was imprisoned in an abductor pillow for six weeks, during which time my amazing darling husband Gary took excellent care of me and took over all tedious household chores. I thank G-d daily for my wonderful husband and best friend Gary; for living through the surgery, always having been terrified of the concept and aware of my family's bad track record of surgical complications; for my talented surgeon Dr. Strege's skills in successfully giving me back use of my arm; for Gary's wonderful family, including our adorable new great nephew Ethan; and for the caring and encouragement of my friends, many from those long ago days at U. City!
Next 10 Years: After retirement, if not before, I hope to resume my free-lance writing career. I particularly enjoyed writing a column I wrote for almost two years on centenarians for a senior newspaper, and might look into writing something like that again. I also hope that somehow sometime Gary and I can travel a bit.
Favorite Memories: Fond fun memories of senior play and messing with poor Miss Domrese's head at rehearsals; music and philosophy with Pro - I still can recite the "Man In the Glass", Bill!; Mr. Shelnutt, of blessed memory, being the only teacher I've ever had who could make history interesting; driving down Olive with Mr. Boehlo's head out the window so he could inhale Chaney's BBQ smells; those crazy sleepless corny joke telling slumber parties; missing lots of Friday classes for Rolla party weekends, where we were but "mere specks of Infinity", right, Terry?!;the graduation party shared with my good friend Paula, of blessed memory, who later was my college roommate, who I was maid of honor for, whose zest for living and later courage has always been an inspiration for me; and so many wonderful friends from U. City, many who I'm still in touch with and happy and proud to still be friends with - Bill, Terry, Ruth, Phylis, Jerry, Sharon, Mark, Ellen, Paul, Marla, Linda, Leslie, Michele, and, thanks to this website, back in touch with Linda Fixman!
