Life and Family: The past ten years have been interesting, busy and happy ones, with far more ups than downs. Having satisfied my professional goals with a longtime job as a writer/producer on ABC-TV’s “Good Morning America,” and having written a book for my parents to show off to the cable repairman, I was more than ready to leave New York City behind and settle into life with my husband, children, dog and cat in a beautiful home in Westport, Connecticut, a charming town on the scenic beaches of Long Island Sound, about an hour from NYC. Our daughter Dana is now 18 and a happy freshman majoring in international affairs at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Our son Douglas is 13. The job I have now as director of public relations for the private school our son attends is perfect--part-time and close to home. My husband Len’s work in the long term care field includes managing the nursing homes he owns and serving on the board of governors of the American Health Care Association, which takes him often to Washington for lobbying and around the country for meetings and speaking on behalf of the long term care industry. We are actively involved in community issues, local and national political campaigns, and charitable causes, all of which have brought us many interesting friends and experiences. Travel to Israel and involvement in the Jewish community are important aspects of our lives. Two years ago, my sister JoAnn (U. City class of 1970, who lives with her family in nearby Mamaroneck, NY) and I moved our parents from St. Louis to an assisted living apartment in Connecticut, where we can better supervise their medical care and, most important, enjoy much more time together. Among my most rewarding experiences in recent years has been volunteer work at an urban community center in a nearby city, helping poverty-line teenagers from a public housing project with their college applications and scholarship applications.
Next 10 Years: Good health and physical fitness are priorities for the next ten years. I also hope to play more golf, read more books, see more plays, get season tickets to the New York Yankees games, and travel extensively. Most of all, I look forward to guiding our children on the road to happy and fulfilling adult lives.
